If you’re like me and try to do the most for your health, wellbeing, and/or recovery then hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a great investment. I learned about it from doing research following my spinal cord injury, and decided to give it a try. The owner Tracy is incredibly welcoming and informative. She truly puts her all into this and really cares about her clients. The staff Steve, Amy, Ricardo, and Holly are all just as kind. They always make me feel comfortable and special. HBOT at MDHyperbaric is always a 10/10 experience all around! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

About HBOT
About Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive, evidence-based treatment where patients breathe 100% medical-grade oxygen inside an air-pressurized chamber. While we typically breathe ambient air that contains just 21% oxygen, HBOT combines increased oxygen concentration with elevated atmospheric pressure — typically between 1.3 and 3.0 ATA — to dramatically enhance oxygen absorption into the bloodstream.
This results in oxygen-rich plasma flooding the body's tissues, organs, and cells — supercharging the body's natural healing processes at the cellular level. HBOT has been clinically proven to accelerate recovery and wound healing, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, stimulate new blood vessel growth, support stem cell mobilization and tissue regeneration, enhance mitochondrial function, and improve immune response.

Top Rated Clinic Experience
I discovered hyperbaric oxygen treatment when my son was going through knee surgeries. It was a phenomenal supplement to the process, before and after surgery. I opted to try 20 sessions to address my own autoimmune condition. The team, starting with Tracy (the owner), Steve, Amy, Holly and Ricardo, provided exceptional customer support and care for myself and my son. I felt safe and supported throughout the process, from the initial education up front, to my time in the tank. The professional approach and high quality of the hyperbaric machines are evidence of the commitment to patient / client safety. Then there are the results. I watched my son go through a challenging surgery with less pain and I attribute that to his hyperbaric treatments which started two days after surgery. I felt great and found myself energized and clear headed - addressing brain fog and fatigue. The approach is as natural as it gets - using oxygen to activate your body’s healing process. This is a great facility underpinned by a wonderful team - I cannot recommend MD Hyperbaric enough…
Shannon DI have had a wonderful experience with MD Hyperbaric. The owner, Tracy, and the staff, Steve, Amy, Ricardo, and Holly, are all incredibly friendly and professional. They did a phenomenal job explaining the process, and every time I went, the environment was extremely welcoming. Every dive was comfortable, and the facility and chambers are kept extremely clean. Thank you!

At MD Hyperbaric – Pittsburgh, patient safety is our top priority and it's key to our mission. We use the OxyHealth Fortius 420, one of the safest FDA-cleared hyperbaric chambers available. Our team of highly trained, IBUM-certified technicians and UHMS-certified medical directors follow strict safety regulations and ensure that every session is both safe and effective. From continuous monitoring to hands-on patient support, we provide the highest level of care during every treatment — and our chambers allow us to take air breaks as directed by our medical team, further enhancing safety during your therapy.
Innovative Design for Maximum Safety

ASME-PVHO-1 & FDA-Cleared Excellence
Every OxyHealth Fortius 420 chamber is ASME-PVHO-1 certified and FDA-cleared, meeting the highest industry standards for safety and reliability — making our chambers one of the safest and most trusted options for high-pressure HBOT.

Preparing for Treatment
Frequently asked questions before your first visit.
What is Medical-Grade HBOT?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a proven treatment that enhances healing by flooding the body with oxygen. Used for over 100 years, it supports brain health, anti-aging, athletic recovery, and medical conditions by boosting oxygen in blood, tissues, and organs. Patients breathe 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, accelerating recovery and promoting cellular repair.
What conditions can be treated with HBOT?
HBOT is FDA-approved for 14 conditions like burns, carbon monoxide poisoning, and non-healing wounds. Emerging research also supports its use for post-surgical recovery, brain injury, fatigue, inflammation, athletic recovery, and anti-aging. Our medical team will assess if HBOT is right for you.
Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy safe?
Yes, HBOT is safe when properly supervised. At MD Hyperbaric, treatments are protocol-driven, medically overseen, and administered by certified staff. Our Medical Director and onsite Safety Director ensure every session is carefully monitored, and we continuously update our protocols based on the latest research to prioritize patient safety.
How long is each session?
Typically, most treatment sessions are approximately 60 minutes, though some conditions may require up to 90 or 120 minutes. Pressurization and depressurization may add about 20 minutes to the appointment, so you should plan for about 90 minutes for your visit.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated. Some patients may benefit from a few sessions, while others may require a more extended treatment plan. A typical protocol will involve 10-40 daily sessions to build up oxygen in the cells. Our Medical Director will recommend a specific treatment plan to address your goals and needs.
How should I prepare prior to a session?
Prior to treatment, please try to avoid alcohol or carbonated drinks. It is best to avoid smoking and other tobacco products during your treatment period, as they may interfere with the body's ability to transport oxygen. Otherwise, there are no restrictions for food or activity before or after your treatment. We encourage you to have healthy meals and stay hydrated.
What should I wear or bring to my session?
Most patients find HBOT sessions relaxing. You will rest comfortably in a 7.5-foot-long steel chamber, breathing 100% pure oxygen through a mask. During pressurization and depressurization, you may feel pressure changes similar to airplane travel. A trained technician will monitor you throughout the session.
Why is a HBOT treatment session called a dive?
The term "dive" is used because the process simulates the experience of a deep-sea dive in a pressurized environment. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has deep roots in diving as an important therapy for treating divers experiencing decompression sickness.
What type of hyperbaric chamber do you use?
At MD Hyperbaric, we use the FDA-cleared OxyHealth Fortius420, a spacious hard-shell chamber delivering 100% medical-grade oxygen via mask. It operates up to 3.0 ATA, allows tailored pressures, supports air breaks, and includes three windows for comfort and safety.
What is the difference between hard-shell and soft-shell hyperbaric chambers?
At MD Hyperbaric, we use hard-shell chambers that deliver 100% medical-grade oxygen at higher pressures for superior therapeutic benefits. Soft-shell chambers operate at lower pressures without medical-grade oxygen, making them less effective for medical treatment.
How do I know if I am eligible for HBOT?
Our team will assess your medical history and specific circumstances through an intake process. An initial evaluation with certified staff and the Medical Director will determine your eligibility for HBOT.
Do I need a referral from a doctor to receive HBOT?
No referral is needed. Our Medical Director will review your intake forms and prescribe HBOT if appropriate. If you have a prescription from a provider, we will coordinate with them. For serious health conditions, we may recommend getting clearance from your physician.
Do you accept insurance?
HBOT is generally not covered by insurance, though most FSA/HSA plans allow reimbursement. MD Hyperbaric is an out-of-network provider, so patients pay out-of-pocket. If you have one of the 14 insurance-approved conditions, reimbursement may be possible. We can provide a superbill and receipt to help you submit a claim.
How much does it cost?
This is an out-of-pocket treatment and we offer a variety of pricing options designed to suit different medical and financial needs. Patients can choose pay-as-you-go or package options at reduced rates when purchased upfront. Please contact us to discuss pricing and options. We accept cash, credit, or check.
